Milha
Milha, which means "Empress of the City," is the stage name of Ecem İlhan, who was born in 1993 in Ankara. She began her education at TED Ankara College Foundation Private High School and later graduated from Bilkent University with a degree in Interior Architecture.
She started playing piano at the age of seven, added guitar at ten, and eventually picked up the drums. At eleven, she recorded her first solo album consisting of eight tracks, burning it onto a CD on her home computer — an impressive feat for the time.
By sixteen, she formed a band on the streets of Ankara and released a cover EP with an '80s glam rock vibe. Shortly after, she recorded an English acoustic solo album and performed at various venues in Ankara and Istanbul. While at Ankara College, she also sang as a soprano in a polyphonic choir and participated in musical productions such as Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Shakespeare plays, Abba, and Grease, as well as Michael Jackson dance choreographies.
Her artistic interests extended beyond music. She attended diction and theatrical stage training at the Müjdat Gezen Theatre School in Ankara. Additionally, she participated in fashion and accessory design workshops, taking technical drawing classes focused on clothing design.
In 2017, she moved to Istanbul and continued her training with on-camera acting lessons at Cüneyt Sayıl Atelier.
In 2018, she quit her job at an interior architecture firm in Bebek, Istanbul, to fully focus on music production. She joined a two-month Ableton Live program at Sonar House to combine live performance with electronic music on stage. In 2020, she received further training in Logic Pro, arrangement, and recording from Barış Demirel (BD Production). During this period, she started producing and developing both her older and new compositions for digital release.
While interning for about five months at Erekli Tunç Studios, she took part in the recording and mixing stages of albums and singles by artists such as Madrigal, Nova Norda, Birkan Nasuhoğlu, Ufuk Beydemir, and Can Ozan.
In 2021, she made her official debut by opening the door to a new era of Trip Hop in Turkey, blending her productions with post-production by Deniz Kabu — one of the country’s leading electronic dance music artists. To date, Milha has released four singles, with all lyrics, music, vocals, and pre-production by herself, and post-production completed in collaboration with Deniz Kabu.
Since 2021, she has continued her album and single projects with Serhan Solçum and Deniz Kabu, and has collaborated with notable names such as Özgür Can Öney (Manga), Phallen (Ali Yazıcıoğlu), and Leo Sagrado.
During her album process, she began taking music production and vocal classes at Point Blank Music School in London. The post-mix of her new tracks was completed with John Foyle (Solar Management), and the mastering was done by Tony Cousins (Metropolis Studios).
AI Video Production
Alongside her music projects, Ecem İlhan is also interested in AI-based video production. She shares her experimental works through her Instagram accounts AIMILHA and IAN SANAI. She also directs the AI-generated videos accompanying her music, which will be released on YouTube.
